The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, regretted, this Tuesday, November 29, the death of Enrique Escorza Zamudio, Mexican ambassador to Ghana and member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1991.

Who is Enrique Escorza Zamudio?

The ambassador foreshortening was born in Mexico City, in 1964; She studied for a degree in International Relations at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), spoke English and French, and had basic knowledge of Chinese.

Escorza served as a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1991 and as Mexico’s ambassador to the Republic of Ghana where he assumed duties on January 29, 2021, concurrently in The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

He held various positions in Mexico and abroad, among the most recent, as Chief of Foreign Affairs of the Embassy of Mexico in the People’s Republic of China. He also had extensive experience in US-Mexico bilateral relations, as well as in different areas related to North America.

He served as Head of the Congressional Affairs Office of the Mexican Embassy in the United States, where he held other important positions, including Head of the Political Section Y Border Affairs as well as Head of the Consular Section.

In the Office of North American Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), he was director for Canada, Director of Border Affairs and co-chair of the Interagency Group on Bridges and Border Crossings Mexico-United States, where he participated in the negotiations on water with the United States.

At the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Ambassador Escorza completed a one-year commission at the Office of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The ambassador was a fellow of the Institute of American Studies of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) and a professor at the Ibeoamerican University of Mexico City, on issues related to the Foreign policy of the United States, International Negotiations and Mexican Foreign Policy.
