Plaza John Lennon in Puebla celebrates its 40th anniversary with activities

Conversations about the history of rock and music as well as concerts, is part of what you can enjoy in the John Lennon Square, as part of your 40th anniversary.

Moises Ramos, The organizer of this event highlighted that there will be special guests such as Carlos Arellano; who has nearly four decades as a composer and a dozen published albums, and William Briseno, who began his career as a musician in 1961, when he was part of the rock group Los Masters.

Other guests at these activities are Diana Hernández Juárez, Alejandro Palma, José Sánchez Carbó, José Carlos Blázquez, Luis Arturo Jiménez Medina and Ernesto Licona Valencia, the first three doctors in literature, the second in history and the last two in anthropology, who will give some talks to talk about the progress of music history.

“We have 6 academics who will talk about what has happened in these 40 years, what happened to literature, what happened to music, what happened to the cultural meeting centers, entertainment in Puebla, there are places for concerts, what has changed and if it has been for better or for worse”, he mentioned.

For his part, Enrique Gonzalez, A member of Soundtrack, he will return to the stage after several years to sing representative songs of the time written by his group, among which a song alluding to the Plaza de John Lennon. In this sense, he highlighted the importance of recovering this cultural space.

“The role was for it to be cultural but afterwards there was not much continuity in the project and now many things are sold there, such as handicrafts and handicrafts, but they seek to recover the square as a space for art and culture,” he said.

This site was named after the British musician and composer, member of the famous band The Beatles, after his death; as a tribute to the singer. The then members of the BUAP Music Department, Raúl Núñez and Luis Limón, they advocated that the city offer special recognition to the artist.
