Cuernavaca, Morelos .- During the presentation of the Paseo Palmira cycle path project, led by the mayor, José Luis Uriostegui Salgado, who arrived on a bicycle, was confronted by neighbors who oppose the modification of the road.

One of the non-conformists took the floor and released a study on why the project cannot be carried out in one of the most important roads in Cuernavaca.
Among them, he explained that about 120,000 vehicles circulate daily on Palmira Avenue, both private and public service.
Due to the above, it was considered a serious mistake that the municipality intends to condition a lane for the circulation of bicycles.
He said that in the studies carried out by the residents of the Palmira neighborhood, it has been shown that it takes approximately 20 minutes to cross this important avenue from north to south and vice versa.
This area is conflictive due to traffic, which is registered at all hours; because many people take it as an alternate route to reach their destinations.
With the reduction of the lanes that the Cuernavaca city council intends to make, by one and a half meters, in both directions; It will cause even more road congestion, and with it, the pollution rates will increase in this part of the city.
He said that the project is out of the reality that is currently lived in the state capital, for various reasons; from potholes, insecurity, excessive traffic and the topography of the streets.
Therefore, far from being a program of mobility and respect for spaces; it is an imposition for a few, and that in the future what it is going to cause is more road chaos, accidents and environmental pollution.
