A year after meeting the face lift of the Pole for Europe, the Volkswagen Polo 2023 presents its renewal for Latin America. The small hatchback gets a more attractive face and a handful of tweaks in the cabin to defend its position in the subcompact category. And yes, this time it comes with the intention of conquering Mexico.
On the outside there are several elements similar to the European Polo, such as the new design of the fascia and the shape of the headlights, although in the version for Latin America it will not have such an advanced LED signature. The skulls are different from the model of the Old Continent. Here they will wear a gray lens and Y-shaped LED lighting, just as we saw in the new Virtus.
The cabin is modernized through very specific pieces, such as the new Volkswagen steering wheel, the VW Play infotainment interface with a 10″ screen and an automatic A/C module with touch controls. The dashboard still bets on the conservative combination of dark tones with some decorative details in glossy black finish.
Throughout the range in Brazil, where it is manufactured, the Volkswagen Polo 2023 it can carry 8 to 10.25″ digital instrument cluster, paddle shifters, smart key, wireless phone charger, LED headlights, and front and rear USB ports. Surprisingly, unlike the T-Cross or Nivus, Polo follows betting only on four airbags in all versions. It also includes ESC as standard.
In Brazil there are two engines to choose from, and neither is the 1.6-liter that we all know. You can opt for an atmospheric 1.0-liter 84 hp, or the well-known 114 hp 1.0 TSI turbo engine with five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
